Dermot Bannon's programme 'Room to Improve' broadcast on RTE 1 on Sunday August 2nd, 2015, featured an average semi in South Dublin with a hipped roof. As part of the renovations an attic conversion was included.
They were charged 32k for the attic conversion. This was a pretty standard conversion without a bathroom, and without altering the roof profile. There was a problem with the new stairs, often the case with hipped roofs, and this cost an extra 1k to rectify.
We would have charged between 18k and 20k for this job, completed to the highest standard, and certified by a structural engineer.
